Similar to attacking, you may roll any Skill and add it to your character's Conviction score. When Defending, you divide that number by ten (round down) and you have the amount of damage, in Hit Levels, you may subtract from the following attack against your party! Better yet, if the next attack does damage to more than one member, this will reduce the damage to all members!
However, there is some bad news. Defenses can't "stack" - that is:
- Only one player may defend against any given Attack.
- If the player has not reduced damage in the last round of turns, the old Defense fizzles to nothing.
- If two or more players have Defended, then the only the first to have Defended among them then Defends the first attack. The remaining players must wait for another attack to Defend against.
