Character Creation

Step One: Setting Up

Get a blank piece of paper or other medium otherwise capable of recording alphanumeric text, or numbers and words.
Make some space for the following fields on said medium:

NAME:One line
LEVEL: One line
CLASS:
HP: Current and Maximum, usually notated in fractional form (Current/Maximum)
CREdibility, CHArisma, and CONviction, all on one line. Should be easy to see and refer to.
QUALIA: One or two lines
SKILLS: Many lines
ABILITIES: Even more lines. You'll probably want to write these down in full for reference once you get them.
BIOGRAPHICAL DATA: Variable space, if any is desired.
CAPTURED ELEMENTS: Many lines
TREATISE: One short line, best written in decimal format. E.g., 3.1
If you're artistically inclined, you can also leave some space for a sketch.

Step Two: Create your Personality

Choose a Name for your character, and choose a Class for your Character. Next, you should bring your stats up to your starting level, usually this will be level one, but some DMs prefer starting higher. To see what this should give you, look over at Level Progression. Each Class has an Affinity for one or two of the Stats, it's usually wisest to level up those, but if you have a specific idea, it is not required.

With these in mind, you can now also fill out your biographical data, and - most importantly! - come up with some Qualia that describe your character's personality. Qualia are all about boiling down your character to some key words - about three or so are relatively normative and highly recommended.

FREDERICK NIETZSCHE
LEVEL: 1
HP: 24/24
CLASS: EXISTENTIALIST [ATHEIST]
STATS: CON 1, CHA 3, CRE 3
QUALIA: SCRAPPY, BIGOTED, SECRETLY MAD, GERMAN

Step Three: Stats, Skills, Abilities and Customizing

Stats represents your character's general debating ability, Credibility represtents their ability to use logic and present credible arguments, Charisma represts their ability to influence others and Conviction represents how certain they are of their own beliefs. Each class starts with some default stats for the character, totalling five in all and upon character creation you may add +1 to two stats, Every third level you gain an additional +1 to two stats.

Hitpoints are equal to 20+Level+Con*3

Slots for captured plot elements are CHA/2+1 (rounded down)

Skills are domains of knowledge your character has some understanding of. As you level up you will gain your choice of a common ability every second level. Everyone starts out with two Skill ranks in their Class Skill and gain another rank every five levels, which is named the same as their Class, so mark that down right away along with any Abilities that come with it.

Step Five: Finishing Up

There's not much left to do! Make sure you still have some room left over for describing Elements you'll capture during the course of your Adventures, and convert any leftover Treatise to Old Texts and list them in the Items section. Your character is now ready to probe the deepest mysteries of culture, life and the universe itself - and kick their collective arses! Good luck!
