Here's the place to discuss the development of Hikmah.
Hikmah started out as a vague, unimpressive reference to Africa, called the great south. No one knew what to do with it. In complete honesty, we still don't. It follows more or less the same pattern as Saraswati; Modern urban centers around a rough equivalent to the nile, and as you progress deeper, it goes from modernized 1001 tales homages to Desert punk. Basically designed to homage a few specific genres or play period characters.
Like with Saraswati, I am totally clueless about where to progress from here.
I did some wiki browsing, as I'm not a great philosophical mind myself, but I think I have an interesting idea.
The predominant mode of travel across the vast deserts in Hikmah. These giant worms are are made of hundreds, if not thousands of smaller worms, each at a different stage of life and decay. By controlling the temporal stage that all the worms are currently in, a Worm-rider can cause the great beast to move at incredible speeds. This control allows the Worm-rider and the passengers to arrive at their destination in a very short amount of time.
Just a thought, probably doesn't really fit with the Hikmah setting but thought I'd make a Dune reference.
