Hello and welcome to D&Dis!
I've noticed a lot of people appear, post once in the Hello thread and then kind of disappear. It's a shame, really. So I've set this up as a way to set up some guide lines and give you guys a bit of direction for this forum;
Obviously, most people should head straight to the hello thread, just a nickname and a brief intro are more than enough. We don't really have much of a community yet [in fact a lot of the developers are swamped right now, so I don't even have them at the moment], I'll reply with a brief thing about what's going on, tell you that we're going to best buds and generally hand you a cookie for making my day by looking slightly interested in this pointless project.
Then set up a contributor page over here so that you may begin the long climb from Allegiant Peon to Administrative Overlord without falling in among the Inglorious Ne'er-do-wells, who graced our site once but are now long forgotten.
The General section of the forum is for basically anything. Obviously advertising furniture will get you marked as an ad-bot, but anything else, whether about DnDis, RPGs, Philosophy or just chatting to the community at large [admittedly we're a ways away from that]. Right now we have a poll, a suggestion box, funny possible taglines and I'd personally welcome anything more.
There is also a debate section where all are welcome, but remember to be mature and avoid flaming or else you'll be dismissed as a troll and possibly get banned if it persists.
After that, you're going to want to check in to the When is Good for You to post up a time you will be free for an IRC game. Or alternatively, post here if you are interested in joining up a play by post game. In either case, if you are not sure of how to create a character, how to get on to IRC, if a character you want to play fits into the campaign or anything else along those lines PM me, I will be glad to answer your question
As for rules and guidelines, I have only one, stolen from the website where this madness started; Don't be a douche.
I am a very tolerant person and won't ban someone if I don't like them, but insulting other people, trolling and/or making life harder for the forum as a whole will get you banned. Generally, I'll wait for someone else to complain first or get someone else's judgement before sending warnings and then pulling out the ban hammer.
If someone is acting out of line, then my general response will be to PM them and tell them that either that's not how we usually do things here or that they are being a jerk. If all I get is a rude reply or ignored, then I'll ban the person. If they either accept my advice and move on or are willing to politely discuss the issue with me over PM rather than the forum, then they're a welcome addition here.
Right now it's mostly just me posting, but I want to try and open the floor up to everyone/anyone else interested in taking it and show you my fairly simple and understandable expectations to set up some ground rules.
