Meta, if I may make a suggestion, you should put the debate section back. Because the downturn in site participation happened right around the same time you got rid of it. Not sure but there might be some unintended cause effect relationship going on there. Just a suggestion.
This over looks that for quite a while prior there was no other activity on the forum elsewhere.
The debate section seemed to comprise mostly of atheists yelling at you [Nerd42] and you shrugging off most arguments with a handwave and a mention of foundationalism. Many members of the debate section, while active there made little to no contributions elsewhere. The one or two members we have who are still interested made a note of avoiding the section, as did most others who were active contributors to the game. While it did have it's entertaining moments, it turned into more of a headache as time went on and more people complained about the lack of quality and the fact that it had become a protracted argument against your Theism and Daniel LC's [who actually sent a message to me pointedly refusing to actually participate in the game] Utilitarianism. Eventually I listened to them and shut off the debate section.
This had the effect of killing off what activity was left in that section of the forum but did little to revive things elsewhere.
I don't see a point in having a debate community exist seperately and somewhat hostilely with the actual game community. Much of D&Dis comprises of satirising Philosophical difference and enjoying oneself, while the debate section seemed to solidify differences and make perspective players wary of joining. If the only thing this forum could maintain is the debate section without much interest in the game proper, I think I'd risk loosing the forum.
