The new Stat system is central to the new manner of gameplay. We're tossing out the old eight, and replacing them with three straightforward ones that should look a little familiar:

charisma! (CHA),
credibility! (CRE),
conviction! (CON)

All stats begin at 1 for each character, but gain bonuses depending on your Class at the start of the game, when your character is first created. In short, each Class is aligned with either one or two of the three Stats, and bestows 2 extra points either in one stat or divided among two.
